Chemicals names that scare you but, are not scary!

Foods ingredients like tocopherols or sucrose octanoate often sound scary. Nevertheless, it sounds scary, but there is nothing to worry about. These names mean nothing but your vitamin E, fat and sugar.

Although chemical names suggest fear, they are present in everything that we eat. For the moment, people are conscious about ingesting tocopherols. Hence, fright tactics are using marketers for making people buy products specifically that is organic. Customers spend billion on it.

Thus, the Environmental Working Group, the nonprofit organization concentrates on environmentalism and human health, subsidies to fear.

Organic: The Original Clean Food

Hence, the “Organic: The Original Clean Food” report asserts that organic foods are safe than wrap-up foods. However, wrap-up foods do not include toxic pesticides or chemicals. Although, the report claims that organic wrap up foods are the clean option for customers. Thus, this is scary allowing the cost of organic products where an organic chocolate bar is USD 5.

However, people choose fresh food except for processed foods, organic or no. Thus, organic cookies, soda, and chips are not healthy than the traditional versions. Whereas EWG claims the conventional wrap-up foods have a lot of chemicals.

Thus, this is a reminder that ‘chemical’ does not equal to ‘dangerous’.

Professor of food science and toxicology, University of Illinois, Elvira de Mejia says word chemical means alignment of things. However, for human safety, considering the chemical quality and quantity using the scary-sounding name.

De Mejia claims other chemicals are toxic at the given dose and do not mean to threaten them. However, the EWG report mentions chemicals in traditional food and related risks like DNA damage, hormonal problems, and cancer.

Director of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science, Josh Bloom says chemicals in food are toxic at high doses. However, Josh Bloom describes that there are ways to look at capable danger: risk and hazard. Risk is the chemical that poses problems on ingesting high levels whereas hazard is the chemical capable of causing harm.

Many of the EWG claims about safe chemicals offering to rats in huge amounts for lifetime and humans are exposing. However, it is not considering risk, where a chemical is a word useful for scare tactics.

EWG is having the habit of mentioning substances for manufacturing food additives present in the final product. For instance, the report mentions that the production of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose generates carcinogens like formaldehyde.
